Putting new interventions for co-existing mental health and substance use problems into practice

Research Fellowship ($640,785)

Mental health and substance use problems go hand in hand, yet treatment is delivered separately because staff are not trained to treat both.

However, many people with mental health and substance use problems experience difficulties attending different services and counsellors.

Professor Amanda Baker  from the Priority Research Centre for Translational Neuroscience and Mental Health is leading a team trialling new, combined counselling interventions so that the same counsellor delivers all treatment.
