University of Newcastle researchers will provide expertise in planning and co-optimising electricity and gas networks for the Future Grid Cluster – a $13 million dollar research collaboration with CSIRO and three other leading universities.

Australia’s homes and businesses could be powered by more than 20 different energy sources and technologies by 2050. The Future Grid Cluster will develop a new suite of tools to understand and optimise energy grids. Each partner university will focus on a different area of energy expertise.
